Celebrity lives often cross borders.

Some stars were born in one country and raised in another. Some became naturalized citizens after moving for work, family, or personal reasons. Others were born with more than one citizenship because of their parents, birthplace, or national laws.

This article focuses on public, documented examples of celebrities with dual or multiple citizenship. It does not treat ancestry, heritage, residency, or honorary recognition as the same thing as legal citizenship.

Here are celebrities who have dual citizenship.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has one of Hollywood’s best-known dual-citizenship backgrounds.

She was born in Jerusalem and later raised in the United States, giving her a public identity connected to both Israel and America. Portman was born in Jerusalem and moved to the U.S. with her family.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman is an Australian and American citizen.

She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, while her Australian parents were temporarily in the United States. Her parents were Australian citizens living in the U.S. on student visas at the time, and Kidman holds dual citizenship in both countries.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is Canadian and American.

Born in Vancouver, Reynolds built much of his early career in Canada before becoming a major Hollywood star. People reported that the Canadian-born actor obtained dual citizenship in 2018 and voted for the first time in a U.S. election in 2020.

Salma Hayek

She began her career in Mexican television before moving to Hollywood and becoming internationally known through Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn, Frida, Eternals, and many other projects. Sandra Oh

People reported that France announced in June 2020 that he had officially become a U.S. citizen after working toward it for many years.

France’s identity has always been layered: British, South Asian, Muslim-raised, queer, and later American by naturalization. His public work on Queer Eye often centers on confidence, identity, clothing, and self-presentation.

Dolph Lundgren

People reported that Lundgren and his wife, Emma Krokdal, officially became U.S. citizens in February 2024. Lundgren said he had been in the country on and off for more than 40 years and was proud to make it official.
