This article focuses on public, documented examples of celebrities with dual or multiple citizenship. It does not treat ancestry, heritage, residency, or honorary recognition as the same thing as legal citizenship.

Here are celebrities who have dual citizenship.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has one of Hollywood’s best-known dual-citizenship backgrounds.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman is an Australian and American citizen.

Jim Carrey

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the most famous Austrian-American public figures.

The Guardian reported that Blunt sought dual U.S./U.K. status and joked that the decision was mainly for tax reasons, while also saying she did not want to give up her British identity. Time also reported that she discussed becoming a U.S. citizen during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is Canadian and American.

Born in Vancouver, Reynolds built much of his early career in Canada before becoming a major Hollywood star. People reported that the Canadian-born actor obtained dual citizenship in 2018 and voted for the first time in a U.S. election in 2020.

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek was born in Mexico and became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

She began her career in Mexican television before moving to Hollywood and becoming internationally known through Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn, Frida, Eternals, and many other projects. Public biographical sources describe Hayek as Mexican and American, and note that she is a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Keith Urban

Keith Urban is an Australian-American country music star.

People reported that Urban and Nicole Kidman are dual citizens of the United States and Australia. Urban was born in New Zealand, raised in Australia, and later became one of Nashville’s biggest country music names.

Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh is Canadian and American.

The actress was born in Canada and became a U.S. citizen later in life. People reported that Oh celebrated her first anniversary as a U.S. citizen while hosting Saturday Night Live in 2019, joking that she was now “Asian-Canadian-American.”

Cobie Smulders

Cobie Smulders became a dual citizen of Canada and the United States.

Neil Young

Tan France, the fashion expert from Queer Eye, was born in England and became a U.S. citizen.
