2. Melora Hardin was replaced by Claudia Wells in Back to the Future

Eric Stoltz was not the only Back to the Future cast member affected by the Marty McFly change.

Melora Hardin had already filmed scenes as Jennifer Parker, Marty’s girlfriend. But after Michael J. Fox replaced Stoltz, Hardin was reportedly considered too tall opposite Fox, so the role was recast with Claudia Wells. 3. Harvey Keitel was replaced by Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now

Harvey Keitel was first cast as Captain Willard in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now.

After early filming in the Philippines, Coppola decided Keitel was not the right fit for the role and replaced him with Martin Sheen. 4. Stuart Townsend was replaced by Viggo Mortensen in The Lord of the Rings

Stuart Townsend was originally cast as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

He was replaced shortly before filming began, and Viggo Mortensen was brought in at the last minute. The Irish Times later asked Mortensen about stepping into the role, and he admitted the situation felt awkward because Townsend had already been part of the team.

Jean-Claude Van Damme was originally involved with Predator as the creature performer.
