Celebrities Who No Longer Do Interviews And Why

Michael Michael, May 19, 2026May 19, 2026

Not every celebrity wants to explain themselves for a living.

Some stars still appear when there is a major project to promote. Others avoid traditional press almost completely. The reasons vary: privacy, anxiety, creative control, family boundaries, bad past experiences, or simply the belief that the work should speak first.

Many of these celebrities rarely give interviews rather than refusing every interview forever.

Beyoncé is one of the clearest examples of a star who can remain globally relevant without frequent traditional interviews.

Over the years, she has shifted toward controlled storytelling through albums, documentaries, visual projects, performances, social media, and her own platforms. In a recent interview, she explained that she sometimes disappears from public view because fame can feel restrictive and she prefers to create at her own pace.

Daniel Day-Lewis has always been selective with interviews.

In a Guardian profile, he said actors “should never give interviews,” arguing that too much personal knowledge about an actor can interfere with how audiences see the performance.

Kate Moss

Kate Moss became famous in an era when models were everywhere, but she rarely played the celebrity-interview game.

Her public mystery became part of her appeal. She built a career through images, fashion campaigns, runway work, and cultural presence rather than constant personal explanation.

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson has not stopped giving interviews, but he has openly treated them with unusual humor and distance.

He became known for strange, exaggerated, or fictional stories during press appearances. Recent coverage has revisited his habit of inventing wild anecdotes when interviews became repetitive or boring.

Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean rarely gives traditional interviews.

His public image is built around distance, mystery, music, photography, visual projects, and selective communication with fans. That quiet approach has helped make him one of modern music’s most elusive major artists.

Adam Driver

Adam Driver is known for drawing firm boundaries around fame.

He gives interviews when needed, but he often avoids turning his personal life into entertainment. He has also been careful about privacy around family and home life.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart still does interviews, but her relationship with fame changed dramatically after the intense attention around Twilight.

She has often spoken with more control and selectivity as her career matured. Instead of chasing constant celebrity visibility, she moved toward independent films, auteur directors, and more thoughtful press settings.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone gives interviews for major projects, but she is selective and guarded compared with many stars at her level.

She has kept much of her private life away from the press and rarely turns personal details into publicity. That makes her public image feel warm but protected.

Lorde

Lorde has stepped back from heavy press cycles at different points in her career.

Her long gaps between projects and thoughtful public communication make her feel less like a constant celebrity and more like an artist who appears when she has something to say.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd built much of his early career on mystery.

For years, his image relied on limited public access, shadowy visuals, and carefully controlled presentation. He later became more visible, but the early interview-light strategy helped create intrigue.

Cillian Murphy

Cillian Murphy is known for being private and low-key.

He promotes projects, but he does not seem interested in celebrity culture beyond the work. That restraint became even more noticeable as Oppenheimer made him more globally visible.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar rarely does ordinary celebrity interviews.

His albums, videos, performances, and lyrics carry much of his public messaging. When he speaks, it usually feels intentional rather than routine. That selectivity supports his image as an artist who values meaning over constant access.

Adele

Adele still gives major interviews, but she does not live in a nonstop publicity cycle.

Between album eras, she often keeps a lower profile and lets long-form interviews, concerts, and music do most of the communication. Her openness feels powerful partly because it is not constant.

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson has largely stepped away from public life and interviews in recent years.

Earlier in his career, he was a major Hollywood personality, but his later public presence became far quieter. For an actor of his stature, that retreat has only added to his legend.

Shelley Duvall

Shelley Duvall spent many years away from Hollywood and public interviews.

Her later return to public conversation was handled carefully because her story involves privacy, health, and long-term withdrawal from the entertainment industry. She should never be treated as a punchline or mystery character.

Enya

Enya has long been known for a private life and limited interviews.

Her public identity is built around music, not celebrity exposure. She releases work, retreats from the spotlight, and keeps her personal world separate from the industry. That privacy has become part of her artistic atmosphere.
