Brad Pitt seeks Angelina Jolie’s film contracts in latest twist of Château Miraval legal battle

Michael Michael, August 14, 2026August 14, 2026

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s long-running legal fight over the Château Miraval estate has taken another turn, with Pitt asking a court to require his former wife to produce financial records and movie contracts from several years following their separation.

The latest filing centers on Jolie’s previous claim that financial pressures influenced her decision to sell her interest in the French winery. Pitt’s legal team argues that documents covering her earnings could help determine whether that claim is supported by the evidence. The dispute adds another chapter to one of Hollywood’s most closely watched post-divorce legal battles.

According to court filings, Pitt is requesting Jolie’s contracts, compensation records and related financial documents covering the period from 2017 through 2021.

His attorneys argue that the records are relevant because Jolie has previously maintained that stepping back from work after the couple’s 2016 separation affected her finances. Pitt’s legal team contends that her income during those years should be examined as part of the ongoing litigation.

The request reportedly includes documentation related to several major projects Jolie worked on during that period, including Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Eternals and Those Who Wish Me Dead.

Château Miraval remains at the center of the dispute

The legal battle revolves around Château Miraval, the historic estate and winery in Provence that the former couple purchased together during their marriage.

In 2022, Jolie sold her ownership stake to a subsidiary of the Stoli Group. Pitt later sued, alleging the sale violated an agreement that neither party would sell their interest without the other’s consent.

The property has become one of the most valuable assets still disputed following the couple’s divorce, with reports valuing the estate at approximately $500 million.

The case has continued through multiple legal filings as both sides challenge various aspects of the ownership and sale.

Jolie’s attorneys have opposed Pitt’s latest discovery request, arguing that her private employment contracts and financial information are not relevant to the core ownership dispute.

According to her legal team, the request represents an unnecessary intrusion into her personal financial affairs rather than a legitimate effort to resolve the case.

Her lawyers have also argued that the litigation is about ownership rights and the circumstances surrounding the sale of her Miraval stake not her overall earnings during the years after the separation.

The court will ultimately decide whether Pitt is entitled to access the requested documents.

A years-long legal conflict continues

Although Pitt and Jolie were declared legally single years ago, legal disputes connected to their marriage have continued well beyond their divorce proceedings.

The Miraval litigation has become one of the most significant unresolved issues between the former couple, generating repeated court filings and public attention.

Both sides have consistently defended their positions, with Pitt seeking to regain greater control over the winery’s ownership while Jolie has maintained that she was entitled to sell her interest.

The latest filing demonstrates that neither side appears ready to settle the matter without further court involvement.

What’s next in the Miraval case?

The immediate question before the court is whether Jolie will be required to provide the financial records Pitt has requested.

If the judge grants Pitt’s request, additional financial information could become part of the ongoing litigation. If the request is denied, the case will proceed without those documents.

Regardless of the outcome, the Château Miraval dispute remains one of Hollywood’s highest-profile business lawsuits, with ownership of the French winery continuing to be fiercely contested years after Pitt and Jolie ended their marriage.
