Celebrities Who Survived Embarrassing Phone Leaks

Michael Michael, June 4, 2026June 4, 2026

Phone leaks are not just celebrity gossip.

They are privacy violations. In many cases, private photos, messages, or personal files were stolen through hacking, account breaches, or unauthorized access. The public may remember the headlines, but the person at the center often has to deal with fear, shame, legal stress, and years of online resurfacing.

These stars were pulled into embarrassing or deeply violating phone-leak scandals — and survived the public fallout.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence became one of the most famous victims of the 2014 celebrity photo hack.

Private images of Lawrence and many other celebrities were stolen and spread online after a large iCloud-related breach. Lawrence later called the incident a serious violation and rejected the idea that the public had any right to view the images simply because she was famous.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson was targeted in an earlier celebrity hacking case that became part of the FBI’s “Operation Hackerazzi.”

In 2011, federal authorities arrested Christopher Chaney, who was accused of hacking into email accounts belonging to more than 50 celebrities, including Johansson, Christina Aguilera, Mila Kunis, Simone Harouche, and Renee Olstead. Wired reported that the charges included unauthorized access, identity theft, and wiretapping.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens was only 18 and closely associated with Disney’s High School Musical image when private photos were leaked in 2007.

Years later, Hudgens described the experience as traumatic and emphasized that being famous did not make her body public property. Teen Vogue reported that she spoke about the leak in a 2020 Cosmopolitan UK interview, where she connected the incident to privacy, consent, and the way young women in entertainment were treated.

Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis was also named among celebrities targeted in the 2011 hacking case investigated by the FBI.

Wired reported that the accused hacker accessed accounts belonging to multiple celebrities, including Kunis, as part of a broader unauthorized-access case.

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera was another celebrity named in the FBI’s 2011 hacking investigation.

The case involved unauthorized access to celebrity accounts and the theft of private materials. Wired reported that Aguilera was among the public figures whose accounts were targeted.

Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco was one of the celebrities affected by the 2014 private-photo hack.

Cuoco handled the situation with humor publicly, posting a blurred joke photo with her then-husband to take control of the conversation. That response did not make the privacy violation less serious, but it showed how some celebrities used humor as a shield when they had little control over what had already happened.

Kate Upton

Kate Upton was also affected by the 2014 celebrity photo hack.

Yahoo Entertainment reported that the FBI investigated the mass hack after private photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other celebrities, including Upton, were released online.

Rihanna

Rihanna’s name has appeared in reporting and list coverage connected to celebrity hacking and private-photo leaks.

Like several other major stars, she had already spent years dealing with public scrutiny before phone-related privacy stories surfaced. The difference is that Rihanna’s career was far too strong to be shaped by a leak.

Blake Lively

Blake Lively was linked to an earlier phone-photo leak controversy, though she denied that some circulated images were authentic.

Her representatives pushed back publicly, and the story eventually became part of the broader pattern of celebrity women being targeted by leaks, fake images, and online exploitation.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato has faced multiple moments where private or personal material became public without their control.

Lovato’s career has included intense public attention around health, identity, fame, and recovery. Phone or image leaks did not erase their career. They continued releasing music, making documentaries, touring, acting, and speaking publicly about difficult experiences.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has been named in celebrity leak coverage over the years, including incidents involving private images or account-related exposure.

Cyrus was already one of the most scrutinized former child stars in the world. She survived not by pretending controversy did not exist, but by repeatedly changing the conversation through music, performance, fashion, and a bold public identity.

Hayley Williams

Paramore singer Hayley Williams faced a private-photo leak in 2010 after an image was posted from her Twitter account.

Williams removed the post quickly, and the incident became a brief but embarrassing public moment. Unlike some hacking stories, the details around how it happened were not always clear in public reporting, so it should be discussed cautiously.

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea faced a private-photo leak in 2019 after unreleased images from a professional photoshoot surfaced online.

While this was not a classic phone hack in the same way as the 2014 iCloud breach, it belongs in the broader category of celebrities dealing with non-consensual image leaks.

Tyler Posey

Tyler Posey was among celebrities affected by private material leaks in the mid-2010s.

Posey was known to many fans from Teen Wolf, and the leak created awkward online attention. Still, he continued acting, doing voice work, appearing in music projects, and returning to the Teen Wolf world.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart was named in reports involving leaked private images in 2017.

Stewart had already dealt with a decade of intense public scrutiny after Twilight, paparazzi attention, and tabloid coverage. By the time leak stories surfaced, she had already rebuilt her career through indie films, auteur projects, and later major recognition for Spencer.

Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson was also named in reporting around celebrity private-image leaks.

Like many others, she did not allow the incident to become the center of her public identity. She continued acting in independent films, romantic dramas, literary adaptations, and major studio projects.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried was named in reporting connected to leaked private images in 2017.

She continued working steadily afterward, earning acclaim for Mank, The Dropout, and other roles. Her career direction became more serious and awards-focused, not smaller or more limited.

Renee Olstead

Renee Olstead was among the celebrities named in the 2011 FBI hacking case.

Wired reported that Christopher Chaney was accused of hacking accounts belonging to more than 50 celebrities, including Olstead, Johansson, Aguilera, Kunis, and others.
