Not every celebrity has a rags-to-riches story.

Some stars did start with very little. Others had a very different beginning: wealthy parents, powerful family names, private schools, business connections, inheritance, or early access to the entertainment industry.

That does not mean they had no talent. It means their starting line was different.

This list looks at celebrities who were already connected to wealth, privilege, or major family resources before becoming famous in their own right.

1. Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus became one of television’s greatest comedy stars through Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep.

But before fame, she came from a wealthy business family. Her father, Gérard “William” Louis-Dreyfus, was a billionaire businessman connected to the Louis Dreyfus Group. Because of that family background, Julia has often been described as one of the richest stars to come from inherited wealth.

2. Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper was born into one of America’s most famous wealthy families.

His mother was Gloria Vanderbilt, the heiress, artist, designer, and socialite connected to the Vanderbilt family fortune. Cooper grew up around fame, money, and one of the most recognizable surnames in American high society.
