Diddy’s projected prison release date updated after reported inmate altercation

Sean “Diddy” Combs has received an updated projected release date from federal prison following reports that he was involved in an altercation with another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.

According to records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Combs’ anticipated release date is now listed as January 24, 2028, moving it forward by approximately one month from the previously listed February 23, 2028. The revised date reflects the Bureau of Prisons’ projected calculation and is subject to change based on federal policies and sentence credits.

Federal records show a revised release date

Combs, 56, is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

His projected release date has changed several times since he entered federal custody. Following his sentencing, prison records initially listed his release for May 2028 before later adjusting it to June 2028. It was subsequently revised to February 2028 and has now been updated again to January 24, 2028.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons routinely updates projected release dates based on sentence calculations and applicable credits.

Reports describe an altercation inside Fort Dix

The latest update comes after reports that Combs was involved in a confrontation with another inmate.

According to TMZ, the incident allegedly began after another prisoner insulted Combs, leading to a physical altercation. Correctional officers reportedly intervened and separated the inmates before placing Combs in solitary confinement following the incident.

Neither the Federal Bureau of Prisons nor officials at FCI Fort Dix confirmed details of the reported altercation.

A prison representative told TMZ that the agency does not disclose internal information regarding individual inmates, citing privacy, safety and security policies. The Federal Bureau of Prisons similarly declined to comment on disciplinary matters involving prisoners.

Sentence stems from 2025 conviction

Combs was sentenced in October 2025 after a federal jury convicted him on two prostitution-related charges involving transportation to engage in prostitution.

He was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

Following his sentencing, Combs was transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to FCI Fort Dix, where he continues serving his sentence.

The time he spent in custody after his September 2024 arrest has been credited toward his prison term.

Previous prison rule violations affected projections

Earlier during his incarceration, reports indicated that Combs had faced disciplinary issues while in federal custody.

Media reports claimed he was cited for possessing homemade alcohol and later for participating in an unauthorized three-way telephone call, which violates federal prison regulations.

According to reports, Combs said he was unaware that three-way calls were prohibited.

Although federal officials have not publicly detailed any disciplinary actions, his projected release date has been adjusted multiple times throughout his imprisonment.

Appeal remains pending

Combs has continued to challenge both his conviction and sentence.

His attorneys filed an appeal seeking either his immediate release, a reversal of his convictions or a reduction in his prison sentence. Federal prosecutors opposed those requests, and Combs has remained in custody while the appeal process continues.

He has consistently maintained his innocence and has denied the allegations brought against him throughout the legal proceedings.

For now, federal prison records list January 24, 2028, as his anticipated release date, though that date could change again depending on future sentence calculations or court rulings.
