Benson Boone Postpones Sacramento Concert Hours Before Show Over Vocal Issues

Benson Boone was forced to postpone a highly anticipated Sacramento concert at the last minute after struggling with problems affecting his voice.

The 24-year-old pop singer had been scheduled to perform at Golden 1 Center on Saturday, Aug. 8, as part of his 2026 Wanted Man Tour. However, fans learned shortly before showtime that Boone would not be able to take the stage. The venue cited health reasons, while Boone personally explained that despite spending the afternoon trying to get his voice ready, he was not physically able to deliver the performance his audience expected.

Boone Apologized Directly to Sacramento Fans

Boone addressed the postponement through social media, making it clear that calling off the performance was not a decision he wanted to make.

“Sacramento — I’m so so sorry but I am not going to be able to perform tonight,” Boone wrote.

He explained that he had spent the afternoon trying to make his voice suitable for performing but ultimately determined it was not ready. Boone acknowledged how disappointing the news would be, particularly for fans who had already made plans to attend.

The singer also said he hated disappointing his supporters and promised that information about the next steps would be provided as soon as possible.

Golden 1 Center Confirmed the Postponement

Golden 1 Center separately confirmed that the Aug. 8 performance had been postponed because of health concerns.

Reports indicated that the announcement arrived less than an hour before Boone was expected to perform, making it an especially last-minute change for concertgoers already arriving in downtown Sacramento.

At the time of the initial announcement, a replacement date had not been revealed.

Importantly, the concert was described as postponed rather than permanently canceled, and Boone told fans that the Sacramento performance would be rescheduled.

Trouble Had Already Emerged in San Jose

The Sacramento postponement followed another difficult night for Boone during his Northern California run.

On Aug. 7, Boone performed at SAP Center in San Jose, but vocal problems reportedly became apparent during the concert. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, his voice began failing during the performance, leading to the show ending earlier than planned.

Boone later communicated with fans outside the venue using a megaphone and indicated that he had been instructed to avoid speaking as he attempted to rest his voice.

That context made the Sacramento postponement the following evening less isolated: Boone had apparently been attempting to recover sufficiently to continue the tour before determining that another full performance was not possible.

The Wanted Man Tour Has a Packed Schedule

Boone’s vocal trouble comes during an intensive stretch of his Wanted Man Tour.

The tour began July 7 in Pittsburgh and includes dozens of U.S. arena dates. According to Boone’s record label, the itinerary included Seattle on Aug. 4, Portland on Aug. 5, San Jose on Aug. 7 and Sacramento on Aug. 8.

The original schedule then called for two performances at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Aug. 10 and 11, followed by stops in Las Vegas, San Diego, Phoenix and several other cities.

The back-to-back nature of those dates illustrates the demands placed on Boone’s voice during this section of the tour.

No specific medical diagnosis was publicly disclosed in the initial Sacramento announcement beyond the vocal and health issues Boone described, so speculation about the precise cause would be premature.

Boone Has Become One of Pop’s Biggest Young Stars

The postponement comes as Boone continues a rapid rise in mainstream pop music.

His breakthrough single “Beautiful Things” became an international success, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. According to Warner Records, it was also the world’s most-streamed song of 2024.

The success helped earn Boone a Best New Artist nomination at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

His debut album, Fireworks & Rollerblades, was followed by 2025’s American Heart, which included songs such as “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” and “Mystical Magical.”

By 2026, his growing audience was large enough to support another extensive U.S. arena tour.

His Next Performances Put the Focus on Recovery

With Sacramento postponed, attention immediately turned toward Boone’s next scheduled concerts.

His original itinerary placed him in Los Angeles for two consecutive performances on Aug. 10 and Aug. 11 before continuing to Las Vegas on Aug. 14 and San Diego on Aug. 15.

Whether the Sacramento vocal problems affect any additional dates will depend on Boone’s recovery and subsequent announcements.

For now, the singer has emphasized his disappointment at being unable to perform while assuring Sacramento fans that he intends to return.

Rather than attempting to push through a performance with a compromised voice, Boone ultimately stepped away from the stage and promised that the postponed concert would be rescheduled.
