Bill Maher Drops Unexpected Hint About His Relationship Status After Calling Someone ‘My Girl’

Bill Maher has spent years speaking openly about dating, marriage and his preference for remaining unmarried. But a small comment during a recent podcast conversation has raised a new question: Is the longtime bachelor currently in a relationship?

The 70-year-old Real Time With Bill Maher host appeared to reveal more than intended while talking with actress Shannon Elizabeth on his Club Random podcast. Maher casually referred to someone as “my girl,” prompting Elizabeth to immediately question whether he was actually as single as previously suggested.

Shannon Elizabeth Catches Maher’s Comment

During the August 10 episode of Club Random, Maher sat down with Elizabeth, known for films including American Pie and Scary Movie.

Their wide-ranging conversation eventually included a story about Maher visiting a supermarket. While telling it, Maher casually used the phrase “my girl.”

Elizabeth quickly noticed.

“So you do have a girl,” she responded, reminding Maher that he had previously described himself as single.

Rather than offering a straightforward confirmation or denial, Maher replied, “Well… Let’s not parse the words,” before returning to his original story.

The brief exchange was enough to create curiosity about whether Maher has quietly entered a relationship.

Maher Keeps the Woman’s Identity Private

Maher did not identify the person he was referring to, nor did he explicitly confirm that he currently has a girlfriend.

That distinction is important because the comment alone does not establish his relationship status.

However, Maher has previously attracted attention over his friendship with film producer Noor Alfallah, who shares a son, Roman, with actor Al Pacino.

Maher and Alfallah have been photographed together publicly on multiple occasions, fueling speculation about the nature of their relationship.

Alfallah, however, previously rejected suggestions that the two were romantically involved.

“Bill’s my friend — just my friend,” she told TMZ in 2024, while adding that she thought he was “great.”

Maher and Noor Alfallah Have Continued Appearing Together

Speculation did not completely disappear following Alfallah’s comments.

Maher and Alfallah were subsequently seen attending events together, including the 68th Grammy Awards Pre-Grammy Gala in Los Angeles in January 2026.

Neither has publicly confirmed that their friendship has developed into a romantic relationship.

Therefore, Maher’s latest “my girl” remark should not automatically be interpreted as a reference to Alfallah. Until Maher identifies the person himself, the identity of the woman he was discussing remains unclear.

Maher Has Been Candid About Dating Younger Women

Although Maher tends to keep individual relationships relatively private, he has been considerably more outspoken about his approach to dating.

During an October 2024 appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show, Maher discussed the age differences between himself and some of the women he dates.

When host Michael Bosstick suggested Maher’s dating life might be perceived as unconventional because he dates women younger than himself, Maher corrected him.

“Not just perceived, they literally are,” he said.

The comedian has never appeared particularly concerned by criticism surrounding age differences in his relationships.

He Once Joked About His Own ‘Golden Bachelor’

Maher returned to the subject during a January 2025 appearance on Dana Carvey and David Spade’s Fly on the Wall podcast.

While joking with Spade, Maher proposed his own version of The Golden Bachelor.

There would be one major difference.

Instead of dating women close to his own age, Maher joked that his version would reflect his actual dating preferences and feature younger contestants.

He described dating “age-appropriate” women as “boring” before offering his own definition of what makes an age difference acceptable in a relationship.

“You know what the appropriate age for a relationship is? One that works,” Maher said.

Marriage Has Never Been Part of Maher’s Plan

Maher has long been one of Hollywood’s most outspoken bachelors and has never married.

Throughout his career, the comedian has frequently discussed relationships while maintaining that conventional marriage is not something he considers necessary for himself.

That history makes his latest remark particularly interesting. Calling someone “my girl” certainly suggests there may be an important woman in his life, but Maher deliberately avoided explaining exactly what he meant when Elizabeth pressed him.

For now, Maher appears content to leave listeners guessing.

Whether the comment represented an accidental relationship reveal or simply Maher using a casual phrase remains known only to him and perhaps the mysterious “girl” he was talking about.
