Linda Blair’s Animal Rescue Property Searched by Authorities as Officials Review Permit Compliance

Authorities searched the California property of actress and animal welfare advocate Linda Blair on Friday as part of an investigation into whether her rescue operation complies with local regulations governing the number of animals housed on the site.

The search was not related to allegations of criminal conduct against the The Exorcist star. Instead, officials conducted what has been described as an investigative warrant to document conditions at the property and determine whether local permitting requirements had been exceeded.

Authorities conduct investigative search

According to TMZ, investigators arrived at Blair’s property early Friday morning accompanied by personnel from several agencies, including Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control, zoning officials, building and safety inspectors, and investigators working with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The reported purpose of the search was to examine the number of rescue animals being housed on the property, inspect electrical systems and document other conditions relevant to local regulations.

TMZ reported that the search began at approximately 6 a.m.

Focus was on permit compliance

According to the report, Blair holds a permit allowing her rescue operation to house approximately 60 dogs.

Authorities reportedly counted roughly 200 dogs on the property during the inspection. Officials are investigating whether that number exceeds the terms of the existing permit, although no formal findings have been announced.

As of now, authorities have not publicly stated that Blair violated any law, and no charges have been announced.

Animals remained at the property

Animal Care and Control personnel also evaluated the dogs during the inspection.

According to TMZ, none of the animals were removed from the property. Officials reportedly examined their condition and remained on site to help ensure the inspection could be carried out safely for both responders and the animals.

The report did not indicate that investigators found evidence of abuse or neglect during the search.

Blair reportedly cooperated with investigators

TMZ reported that Blair was present throughout the inspection and cooperated with officials conducting the search.

No arrests were made during the operation, and it remains unclear whether any administrative citations or code violations will ultimately be issued.

The investigation appears to remain ongoing while authorities review the information gathered during the inspection.
