Instead, DeGeneres produced champagne and proposed a toast to Carey “not being pregnant.” Carey immediately recognized what was happening, describing the situation on air as “peer pressure.”

Carey also said she “didn’t enjoy that moment” and wished greater empathy had been applied to the situation.

Her comments turned a resurfaced viral clip into a broader conversation about celebrity privacy.

Carey Stopped Short of Launching a Personal Attack on DeGeneres

One detail sometimes lost when the interview is revisited is that Carey did not use her 2020 comments to unleash an extended attack against DeGeneres.
