Scott Eastwood recalls getting expelled after failed marijuana-selling scheme in Hawaii

Scott Eastwood is opening up about one of the biggest mistakes of his teenage years, revealing that an ill-fated plan to sell marijuana at school ultimately got him expelled from middle school.

During a candid appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, the actor looked back on the incident with humor, describing it as his “first entrepreneurial experience.” The story, which took place while he was growing up in Hawaii, eventually led to a major change in his life moving in with his father, legendary actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood.

Eastwood recalls raiding a marijuana farm

Speaking on the podcast, Eastwood said he and several classmates came up with a plan to steal marijuana from a farm instead of buying it.

Joking about the decision, he admitted the group believed they had found an easy way to make money.

According to Eastwood, the teenagers sneaked onto the property at night, took the marijuana, brought it to a nearby beach to dry it, divided it among themselves and planned to sell it to other students.

The plan quickly unraveled

The scheme did not last long.

Eastwood explained that someone involved was eventually caught, leading authorities at the school to investigate the group. He said another participant ultimately identified everyone else involved.

Although Eastwood joked that he still denies his involvement, he acknowledged that the school expelled the students despite police not having physical evidence.

“They rolled on everybody,” he recalled while discussing how the plan fell apart.

The incident changed the course of his childhood

Shortly after being expelled, Eastwood’s life took a different direction.

He revealed that he left Hawaii and moved to California to live with his father, Clint Eastwood. The actor has previously spoken about his father’s disciplined approach to parenting, describing him as someone who emphasized responsibility, hard work and earning everything through effort.

Looking back, Scott suggested the change in environment became an important turning point in his life.

During the same interview, Eastwood reflected on what it was like being raised by one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Despite Clint Eastwood’s fame, Scott said his father avoided spoiling his children. In another story shared on the podcast, he recalled that Clint refused to buy him a car as a teenager, believing he should work and save money himself.

Scott admitted he was frustrated at the time but now appreciates the lesson about responsibility and the value of earning things on his own.
