Taylor Swift Songs Disappear From Trump TikTok Posts After Copyright Claims

Taylor Swift’s music has disappeared from multiple videos posted by the Team Trump TikTok account after copyright restrictions made the tracks unavailable, renewing attention on the complicated history between the pop superstar and President Donald Trump.

One of the affected videos had even directly referenced Swift in its caption, saying she would be “super excited” that her music had been used. The post originally featured “August,” while another Trump-related video used “Father Figure.” Both songs have since become unavailable on the posts.

Team Trump Used “August” in a Recent Video

The latest example involved Swift’s song “August,” from her Grammy-winning 2020 album Folklore.

Team Trump posted a TikTok showing President Trump and first lady Melania Trump watching a large fireworks display with their backs facing the camera.

Text displayed across the video read, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.”

The accompanying caption made the Swift reference even more explicit.

“I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!” the account wrote.

However, the video no longer plays “August.” Users attempting to access the track have instead encountered a message indicating that the copyright owner has not made the sound available in their country.

Another Swift Song Also Became Unavailable

The copyright issue was not limited to “August.”

A November 2025 Team Trump video had used “Father Figure,” a Swift song from The Life of a Showgirl.

The video featured Trump alongside his son Barron Trump before transitioning through other footage of the president. Lyrics from the song were incorporated into the video’s presentation.

That audio has also become unavailable.

Entertainment Weekly reported that a copyright claim silenced the posts, meaning the videos remain accessible but no longer feature the Swift songs originally attached to them.

The distinction is important: while some headlines have described Swift as personally “removing” the songs, publicly available information does not establish that Swift herself directly initiated the copyright action.

Swift and Trump Have a Complicated Political History

The latest episode comes after years of political tension involving Trump and one of the world’s most prominent recording artists.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump shared AI-generated images on his Truth Social account that falsely suggested Swift and some of her fans supported his candidacy.

One image depicted an AI-generated version of Swift dressed in a patriotic Uncle Sam-style outfit alongside the message, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.”

Trump accompanied the images with the message, “I accept!”

The images were not an authentic endorsement from Swift.

Trump later said during a Fox Business interview that he had not generated the images himself and did not know where they originated.

Swift Publicly Endorsed Kamala Harris

Swift eventually made her actual political preference clear.

Following the September 2024 presidential debate, the singer publicly endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Swift specifically referenced the AI-generated Trump endorsement when explaining why she decided to publicly clarify her position.

She wrote that seeing an AI-generated version of herself falsely endorsing Trump heightened her concerns about artificial intelligence and misinformation.

Swift said the situation convinced her that she needed to be transparent about how she planned to vote.

Her endorsement attracted enormous attention, reflecting both Swift’s cultural influence and the increasingly visible intersection between celebrity, politics and social media.

Trump Responded to Swift’s Endorsement

Trump quickly responded after Swift endorsed Harris.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump described Swift as a “very liberal person” and said she appeared to consistently support Democrats.

He also predicted that the singer would “probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Days later, Trump escalated his criticism by posting “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social.

Despite the political dispute, Swift remained one of the world’s biggest recording and touring artists.

The relationship between the two public figures has continued generating headlines whenever Trump, his administration or affiliated social media accounts reference Swift.

Copyright Rules Can Silence Political Social Media Posts

The disappearance of Swift’s songs also highlights an important issue surrounding music used in political content.

Music available to ordinary users on social platforms is not necessarily automatically cleared for every political, commercial or promotional use.

Artists, songwriters, publishers and record labels can hold different rights associated with a recording and composition, making political use of popular music particularly complicated.

Numerous musicians have objected over the years when political campaigns used their songs without their approval.

In this instance, Entertainment Weekly reported that copyright claims resulted in the Swift tracks being silenced on the Team Trump videos.

No Public Statement From Swift Yet

As of the initial reporting, Swift had not publicly commented on the affected TikTok posts.

Entertainment Weekly said it contacted representatives for both Swift and the White House for comment.

That means it would be premature to conclude that Swift personally ordered the songs removed unless she or her representatives confirm such involvement.

What can be established is that multiple Team Trump posts used her music, the account openly referenced Swift while doing so, and copyright restrictions subsequently made those tracks unavailable.

Given Swift and Trump’s highly public history, the disappearing songs quickly became much more than a routine social media copyright issue.
