Jamie Foxx Reveals Why He Was Hesitant About Becoming a Dad Again at 58

Jamie Foxx is preparing for another major chapter in his life. The Oscar-winning actor, comedian and Beat Shazam host is expecting his third child and his first with girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp. But Foxx admits that becoming a father again at 58 initially gave him something to think about.

During a recent interview with E! News alongside his eldest daughter, Corinne Foxx, Jamie explained that his age was his biggest reservation. His perspective changed, however, after an encounter with another Hollywood legend who experienced fatherhood considerably later in life: Al Pacino.

Jamie Foxx Admits He Was Initially Unsure

Foxx didn’t try to hide his hesitation when discussing the pregnancy.

“Being my age, I was a little on the fence,” he told E! News. The concern wasn’t about whether he wanted another child so much as what becoming a new father at 58 would mean.

Foxx already has plenty of parenting experience. He is dad to Corinne, 32, whom he shares with former partner Connie Kline, and Anelise, 17, whom he shares with Kristin Grannis.

This time, however, he will be returning to the earliest stages of parenthood decades after welcoming his first daughter.

Al Pacino Helped Change His Perspective

An unexpected conversation helped Foxx look at the situation differently.

Foxx said he ran into Al Pacino a few months earlier. Pacino welcomed his youngest son, Roman, in 2023 when he was in his 80s.

Foxx jokingly asked Pacino whether he was going to be “back in the drop-off line.” Seeing Pacino embracing fatherhood at an older age apparently gave Foxx some reassurance.

After the exchange, Foxx joked that he realized he would be just fine.

Corinne Foxx Is Excited About Her New Sibling

Foxx isn’t entering this new stage without enthusiastic support from his family.

Corinne has made it clear that she is looking forward to welcoming another sibling. Speaking separately with Extra, she described herself as “very excited” for her father and praised his abilities as a parent.

She called Jamie “the best dad in the world” and predicted that he would thrive as he starts the parenting journey again.

Corinne and Jamie also have a professional relationship. They have worked together on Beat Shazam, where Corinne serves alongside her father on the Fox musical game show.

His 2023 Health Crisis Changed His Outlook

Foxx’s comments about becoming a father again also carry additional meaning following the serious medical emergency he experienced in 2023.

The actor has since revealed that a brain bleed led to a stroke, beginning an extraordinarily difficult period for him and his family. His daughters played an important role during his recovery, and Foxx has repeatedly credited them with supporting him through the ordeal.

Discussing his growing family with E! News, Foxx connected that experience with his current outlook on life. He said that after going through something so frightening, being given what he views as a new life and seeing his daughters embrace the changes happening within their family is what matters most to him.

Foxx and Alyce Huckstepp Are Expecting Their First Child Together

Foxx’s girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp is expecting the couple’s first baby together, while the child will be Foxx’s third.

E! News reported the pregnancy in May 2026. Foxx and Huckstepp’s relationship first became public in 2023. Reports emerged that they had separated in early 2025, but the pair subsequently reunited.

More recently, the couple was photographed together during a July dinner outing in Beverly Hills as they prepared for their baby’s arrival.

A New Chapter at 58

Foxx’s initial hesitation about becoming a father again appears to have been replaced by excitement about what comes next.

His conversation with Pacino provided some humorous reassurance, but his comments also suggest that his health crisis has influenced the way he approaches major life changes. After an experience that threatened his life, Foxx appears particularly appreciative of another opportunity to expand his family.

And perhaps most importantly for the actor, his daughters are embracing the new arrival alongside him.

For Foxx, becoming a dad again at 58 may not have been something he initially expected. But with another baby on the way, support from his daughters and some unlikely encouragement from Al Pacino, the Beat Shazam host appears ready for another trip through fatherhood.
