An accident required emergency surgery

Stewart recalled that the incident happened before an early appearance on NBC’s Today show.

While saying goodbye to her French bulldogs during a snowstorm, one of the dogs accidentally struck her face, splitting her lip.

She rushed to the hospital, where doctors performed approximately 16 stitches to repair the injury.

“I can’t call that plastic surgery,” Stewart explained. “That is a repair.”

She added that it remains the only time a plastic surgeon has ever worked on her face.
