Diddy’s projected prison release date moves back to February 2028 after latest update

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected federal prison release date has been revised once again, with Bureau of Prisons records now listing February 20, 2028, following a series of recent changes that have fueled speculation about his time in custody.

The update comes only days after prison records briefly reflected a January 2028 release date, making it the latest adjustment in a timeline that has changed several times since Combs began serving his sentence.

Release date revised again

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Combs’ current projected release date is February 20, 2028.

The new date follows a sequence of revisions over recent months. His projected release had previously shifted from a later 2028 date to February, then to January 2028, before being moved back to February.

Federal prison release dates can change for a variety of administrative reasons, including sentence-credit calculations, disciplinary matters or other custody-related adjustments. Officials have not publicly explained the reason for this latest revision.

Reports linked the update to a prison altercation

The latest change comes after reports that Combs was involved in an altercation with another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.

According to TMZ, the confrontation allegedly began after another inmate insulted Combs. Correctional officers reportedly intervened, and Combs was subsequently placed in administrative or solitary housing following the incident.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed details of the reported fight, citing privacy, safety and security policies regarding individual inmates.

Because officials have not commented, it is unclear whether the latest release-date adjustment is connected to the reported altercation.

Serving a 50-month federal sentence

Combs is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence imposed in October 2025 after he was convicted on two counts related to transportation to engage in prostitution.

He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges during the same trial.

The sentence included credit for time already spent in custody following his September 2024 arrest.

Appeal remains pending

Combs’ legal team has continued challenging both his conviction and sentence.

His attorneys previously filed an appeal seeking either his release, a reversal of the convictions or a reduction in his sentence. Prosecutors opposed those requests, and Combs remains in federal custody while the appeal process continues.

Any future court rulings could affect his sentence independently of the Bureau of Prisons’ projected release date.

Projected dates can still change

Although February 20, 2028 is the Bureau of Prisons’ current projected release date, it is not necessarily final.

Projected release dates may be revised if there are changes related to earned time credits, administrative calculations, disciplinary findings or court orders. At this time, federal officials have not publicly explained why Combs’ projected release date has changed multiple times in recent months.

For now, Bureau of Prisons records list February 20, 2028, as the anticipated date of his release.
