Jaafar Jackson is wasting no time building his acting career following his acclaimed performance as Michael Jackson in the blockbuster biopic Michael.

The actor and singer, who portrayed his late uncle in the hit film, has officially signed on to star alongside Will Smith in the upcoming action-thriller Supermax, marking his first major project since his breakout performance.

What Supermax is about

Directed by Halloween filmmaker David Gordon Green, Supermax is set inside a maximum-security prison where an apparently impossible murder takes place.

The story follows two FBI agents, played by Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb, as they investigate the mysterious killing within the heavily guarded facility.

Although Jackson’s role has not yet been revealed, his casting places him alongside an experienced ensemble in what is expected to be a major action release.

A breakout performance in Michael

Jackson made his feature-film debut portraying Michael Jackson in Michael, a performance that earned widespread praise from critics and audiences.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson has previously said there is enough material for another film and confirmed that the filmmaking team has been preparing for the possibility of a sequel, although no official announcement has been made.
